Carpet Shims to do the flooring transition right!

Whether you call our products a flooring transition, flooring ramp, carpet lifter, carpet shim, a shim to raise carpet, floor transition, floor ramp, or a carpet ramp, it should all mean the same and you have come to right place. Carpet Shims are applicable anywhere you are installing carpet next to hardwood, ceramic tile, stone, marble or any other situation where there is a rise between the sub-floor and the hard surface.

Carpet Shims have also been used in other applications such as levelling walls and floors in remodelling situations. In one case, they were used to rebuild century old window sills. This proves, the possiblities are endless! However, with all the possible uses, Carpet Shims were engineered as an extremely sensible and practical flooring transition.

Choosing the right thickness: Generally, if you measure the height of the rise from the sub-floor to the top of the hard surface, then subtract 1/2", this will be the Carpet Shim thickness you will want installed. The exception to this general rule will be, if you are installing an extremely thick or thin carpet, you may need a thicker or thinner Carpet Shim.

Choosing the right ramp length:

8" x 32" Carpet Shims^TM
The 8" ramp x 32" wide Carpet Shims are available in thicknesses of 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2". The 8” shims offer a gentle, smooth transition from hard surface to carpet. Typically, the 8" x 32" Carpet Shims are installed in doorways of less than 48" wide and particularly in hallway doorways. The shorter transition (ramp) keeps the transition closer to the wall and out of the hallway. They eliminate waste and fit nicely in most residential doorways.

12" x 48" Carpet Shims^TM
The 12” ramp x 48” wide Carpet Shims are available in thicknesses of 1/4”, 3/8”, and 1/2”. These shims are typically installed in openings that are 48” or wider and/or where ADA is a concern. Because of the 12” ramp, they provide a more gentle, smooth transition from the carpet to the hard surface.

6" x 48" Extend-A-Shims^TM
The 6" ramp x 48" wide Extend-A-Shims are available in thicknesses of 3/8", 1/2", and 5/8". Extend-A-Shims are to be installed with the corresponding 12" x 48" Carpet Shims. With the ramp extending 18", these transitions provide an extremely gentle taper from the carpet to the hard surface and are ADA Compliant.

1" x 24" x 48" SUPER SHIMS^TM
The ADA compliant SUPER SHIMS provide the solution for EXTREME HEIGHTS between carpet and hard surfaces such as marble or stone. They have a 24" ramp, are 48" wide and 1" thick at the high side. SUPER SHIMS are engineered to be installed where there is a rise of 1-1/8" to 1-1/2" between the sub-floor and hard surface. NO ONE has a better solution for this EXTREME HEIGHT application...…

Universal Side Shims^TM
Universal Side Shims provide a taper to the right and left side of the Carpet Shims and eliminate the drop off. They are available for all Carpet Shims, with the exception of the 1/4" products. They complete any transition where Carpet Shims are installed. Notice the compound taper in the picture at the left.
