Carpet Shims, Ltd. is proud to introduce Extend-A-ShimsTM.
Extend-A-Shims™ are 6" x 48" and are engineered to be used ONLY with the corresponding 12" x 48" Carpet Shims. When both products (Carpet Shims and Extend-A-Shims) are installed, the transition (ramp) will be 18" long. The combination of Extend-A-Shims and 12" x 48" Carpet Shims meet and/or exceed ADA (American Disability Act) transition requirements, while providing an extremely gentle taper from the hard surface to the sub-floor.End View NOTE: Extend-A-Shims cannot be used without the corresponding Carpet Shims.
Universal Side Shims™ for Extend-A-Shims™ Top Front View  Available NOW! Universal Side Shims™ for Extend-A-Shims™ are now avalaible. The Universal Side Shims for Extend-A-Shims are made up of four pieces that are engineered to taper the Extend-A-Shim and Carpet Shim on the right and left sides for a smooth transition to the subfloor, eliminating the drop off at each end of the shims. You simply install (see instructions below) the Extend-A-Shim(s) and Carpet Shim(s) and then match up the red lines on the Universal Side Shims, and install (nail, glue or screw) one set on each end, and your transition is complete. All Universal Side Shims for Extend-A-Shims orders are custom made in sets of two (right and left sides), to fit the following: 5/8" Extend-A-Shim to the 1/2" x 12" x 48" Carpet Shim
When you are installing carpet next to a hard surface that requires you to meet or exceed ADA transition standards, Extend-A-ShimsTM, Carpet ShimsTM, and Universal Side ShimsTM are the best solution.
