Carpet Shims'
SUPER SHIMSTM
1" x 24" x 48"In this specialty application, a wood saw is required.
Determine the width of the opening. Cut the two pieces of the Super ShimTM to the correct length. Place the thickest shim in the opening with the smooth side up and the high side toward the hard surface, leaving a *¼" gap between the shim and the hard surface. Butt the second piece to the lower end of the transition. Nail each piece with at least 8 rink shank nails per 48” of Carpet Shim, centered and evenly spaced. Place the Universal Side Shims at each side of the Carpet Shim and nail, all four corners of each piece, securely to the floor. Install the tack strip on top of the Carpet Shim maintaining the *¼" gap. Install your pad and carpet, tucking the carpet into the ¼” gap. It is that simple!*Regarding the ¼" gap, when extremely thick or thin carpet is being installed, adjust the gap accordingly. Also refer to hard surface manufacturer's recommendations.Carpet Shims’ products may be attached to the floor using a good adhesive.Recently, a homeowner reported, "My installer installed the entire SUPER SHIM in less than 10 minutes, and it was the perfect solution to my very difficult problem. The dooway looks great!" Try to beat that time with any other transition method.
